Lisinopril is a valuable drug for the treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure.

Lisinopril can be taken along with food or without food. Consume a good amount of water. Drug Aspirin shouldn't be taken within 2 hours of Lisinopril medication, Aspirin may hinder the absorption of lisinopril

Completing the dosage is very important in curing the disease, so do not break the schedule without asking your physician. Taking the medicine at the same time every day is recommended for effectiveness.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Lisinopril is angiotensin that helps in the conversion of enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. Angiotensin is meant to narrow the blood pressure and therefore promote it. But when this enzyme is formed by the dosage of Lisinopril, it cannot operate in its active form and thus the blood pressure drops alternate to rapidly growing.

It should however be remarked that Lisinopril and some of the other ACE inhibitors were first produced from the venom of a poisonous snake seen in Brazil.

Missed Dose

It is better to keep track of the dosage schedule without missing any dose. If you have missed any dose, please take the medicine as you remember by spacing it with 4 to 5 hours of interval. if this is not possible, skip the missed dose and continue when it is time for the next dose.

Never adjust a missed dose with an extra dose, double dose may have severe harmful effects.


Lisinopril should be stored at room temperature within 15 to 30 degrees C. Always keep it in a cool dark and clean place away from kids and pets.

Do not consume salt substitutes or even potassium supplements. There is a chance for excess loss of fluid from the body. Under such conditions, a doctor should be contacted shortly.

Lisinopril may raise the risk of having dizziness or drowsiness. This risk considerably develops if you combine it with alcoholic beverages. So please do not use them while taking Lisinopril. Also, avoid engaging any tasks which require mental alertness, for instance, driving, managing heavy machinery, etc).

Lisinopril is not a medicine recommended for a pregnant woman.
